I’m the author of three novels, The Ivory Pomegranate (Gefen Publishing House); Parachuting (Sumach Press); and The Daughter Who Got Away (Yotzeret Publishing). The Ivory Pomegranate received awards from the Israeli Committee for the Absorption of Outstanding Immigrant Artists as well as Keren Amos, the fund of the President of the State of Israel. The Daughter Who Got Away was a finalist for the 10th Annual National Indie Excellence Awards in the US and was listed by Foreword Reviews in the US as one of the “Top 8 Literary Fiction Releases.”
I’m a graduate of the University of Arizona’s MFA program and have published short stories in many American literary journals, including The Southern Humanities Review, The Virginia Quarterly, and Frontiers. I currently teach at the University of Toronto and at San Joaquin Delta College.
My first novel, The Ivory Pomegranate, about a group of American university students facing campus anti-Semitism, was published in Israel and New York by Gefen Publishing. My second novel, Parachuting, about suburban teenagers struggling with Jewish identity amidst the 1970’s counterculture, was published in Canada by Sumach Press.
My newest novel, The Daughter Who Got Away, is filled with very short stories embedded within the arc of a longer one, about an unusually adventurous mother and daughter. The novel is also an experiment in showing the subliminal influence of the Jewish cycle on the lives of characters that move in and out of traditional time. It was published in the US by Yotzeret Publishing.
